    ◆ Arka is working in the project "Ontop" where he is investigating ways to manage, process and query large multidimensional spatial-temporal Raster data together geometrical data under the Virtual Knowledge Graph (VKG) paradigm. The work is still ongoing but some good progression has been reported as publication leading to positive impact in the field.

    ◆ Arka was hired as a research and development intern to work on a project involving numerical modelling over large satellite imagery, as a part of his master's thesis. Being a computer science student, he has a strong problem-solving mentality, thorough analytical ability and critical thinking that enable him to learn quickly new things.

    ◆ He repidly grasped the concept of prcessing and analysis of multidimensional raster image from differernt satelite sensors given that it was not in his master curriculum beforehand. He also performed statistical analysis and derived inferences with colorful map visualization using MATLAB and R.

    ◆ Arka stands out for his strong work ethic, creativity, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills duritng project work. Throughout the dissertation work his conduct was very good and he has shown a keen interest in all the activities assigned to him.

    ◆ I first got to know Arka in 2019 when he ranked first out of 28 students in the postgraduate diploma course in remote sensing and GIS at Jadavpur University, with an overall grade point average of 82.13%. Throughout the projects he was given to work on during his education, he behaved well and demonstrated leadership abilities.

    ◆ Arka possesses remarkable analytical skills, a sharp brain, and excellent communication skills. He has demonstrated positive determination in all of the research initiatives he has participated in. He is a keen researcher who constantly produces results. He was an exceptional student with a strong research interest, inventiveness, and originality. During his dissertation, he produced appealing research insights and solved complex challenges with ease. Arka has a master's degree in computer science and a postgraduate diploma in remote sensing and GIS, making him an apt candidate for future employment position encompassing best both of the subjects.

    Knowledge Graph Engineer @ KRDB Research Centre for Knowledge-based AI, Bolzano, ITALY flag-icon-india

    • Developed OntoRaster [2], a novel framework to extend the existing Virtual Knowledge Graph (VKG) paradigm to allow users to effectively query over multidimensional raster data combined with relational data any geospatial domain with minimal domain knowledge and without any data conversion.
    • Incorporated OGC standard ontologies describing data semantics such as, GeoSPARQL ontology for spatial relational data, 3DCityGML ontology for 3D building data, LinkedGeoData ontology for OpenStreetMap (OSM) data and Coverage Implementation Schema (CIS) ontology for raster.
    • I also explored ways to incorporate Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to guide efficient creation of possible complex query plans to query disparate raster data based on the user's prompt to infer further knowledge.

    Worked as a GIS consultant and expert on a contract basis in connection with the end-line evaluation of Watershed Development projects under PMKSY scheme through the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Documentation (MELD) System for Indian States.
    I analysed GPS data and field data collected over the area of interest (AOI) and created geo-referenced maps showing treated areas of finished watershed development projects using ArcGIS, Python, and R.

    Research Engineer (R&D) @ School of Oceanographic Studies (SOS), Kolkata, INDIA flag-icon-india

    Climate Change Impact Assessment and Adaptation Project - I collaborated to developed Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS), a digital platform using R and Java to analyze the specific problems related to water availability, agriculture and livelihood over 40 selected villages of Indian-state Bengal under the DRCSC Framework funded by NABARD. Results are published at [5]
    Drought analysis at village level was carried out with drought indices like the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), Temperature Condition Index (TCI) & Vegetation Condition Index (VCI).
    Mann-Kendall Test and Sen Slope Estimator was used for in-depth analysis of daily rainfall data over 115 years (1901-2015).
  5. 2017 — 2018

    Geospatial Data Engineer (R&D) @ Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space (DoS), Dehradun, INDIA flag-icon-india

    • Developed numerical models to extract, and process large satellite sensor images i.e., raster data from NASA, ESA, ISRO (in ASCII, NetCDF, HDF, GeoTIFF formats) using MATLAB & R, and validate the result using ArcGIS and ENVI.
    • Classified different atmospheric parameters e.g., smoke, dust aerosols etc. in different areas of interest affected by forest fires by analyzing satellite sensor images such as INSAT, CALIPSO, MODIS, and OMI including respective metadata and time series visualization over a long period of time.
    • Data wrangling, noise removal, statistical analysis and visualization have been done to aid in decision making.
    • Started as an intern for six months but then continued to work on satellite image data collaboratively for two years
